Perhaps you’ve noticed the Danish Tax Agency's new campaign on Facebook. We’ve named the campaign ‘Katersakka - My Savings’ because pensions are all about your money.
Did you get an increased tax rate on your tax card?
Here you can watch the first animated film, which explains what to do if your tax card has been updated with an increased withholding rate.
The film is in Greenlandic with Danish Subtitles.
The Law on Obligatory Pension Contributions states that everyone is required to save for their pension. If you do not make contributions yourself, your savings will be made via an increased withholding rate on your tax card.
You can have the amount saved through the increased withholding transferred to your pension account by agreement with the Danish Tax Agency. You simply need to provide the details of the pension account.
If you have fulfilled the savings requirement and can document this, you can have your tax card corrected.
Have you received a tax card with an increased withholding rate? There may be two reasons for this:
Your pension contributions have not been registered, or
You have not contributed enough to your pension.
How to resolve this:
Compare your annual pay slip with your annual statement for mandatory pension contributions in your e-Boks.
Compare your pension contributions with the annual statement.
Have you contributed enough, but it hasn’t been registered? Send documentation to the Danish Tax Agency. They can assist you with a new tax card.
Haven’t made the required pension contributions?
You still have time to submit documentation to the Danish Tax Agency.
Once your savings requirement has been fulfilled, you can have your tax card updated.
