If you reside in Greenland or stay in Greenland for more than six months, you are subject to tax. This means you must pay taxes to the Greenlandic national and municipal treasury on your earnings.
The amount each person or business pays in taxes varies significantly. It depends on individual or business income and the amount of deductions available. In some cases, special rules apply regarding tax liability and tax rates. For example, if you:
- Have limited tax liability
- Move between Nordic countries during the tax year
- Move between municipalities within Greenland during the year
- Work in an area outside municipal jurisdiction, such as Thule Air Base
Your employer is responsible for withholding your A-tax (pay-as-you-earn tax) directly from your salary.
